How to connect your AI to a fleet of business agents (over MCP)

You do not need a new app to run your business with agents. You need one connection. This is the whole setup, in the order you will actually do it — about five minutes from a cold start to asking the fleet for real work.

What MCP is, plainly

MCP — the Model Context Protocol — is a standard way for an AI assistant to reach tools and data outside itself. Think of it as a socket on the back of your assistant. Anything that speaks the protocol can plug in, and the assistant can then read from it and act through it, with your permission.

i2 Systems is one of those plugs. Instead of a chat that guesses at your business, your assistant gains a set of trained agents — books, marketing, product, projects — that read from your own records on your own node.

Step 1 · Create your account

Sign up with your work email, agree to the terms, and you are in. Free to connect: no card, no trial clock and no waiting list. The account is where your node lives, so make it with the email you actually use for the business.

• Name and work email — nothing else is required.
• Tick the Terms and Privacy Policy box to create the account.
• Confirm the magic link we email you.

Step 2 · Make the one connection

Open your assistant’s connector settings — in Claude, that is Settings → Connectors; in ChatGPT, Settings → Connectors → Add. Paste the i2 Systems MCP URL from your portal, sign in once when prompted, and approve the scopes.

What you are approving

The scopes are readable in plain language: which books the agents may read, and whether they may draft or only summarise. Anything that posts, sends money or emails a customer always waits for a person — no scope grants that away.

One connector, and the thing you already talk to becomes the way you run the business.

Step 3 · Reach the fleet

Back in your assistant, ask for something concrete. Good first asks, because they prove the connection end to end:

• “What is my net position across both books this month?”
• “Which budgets are at their cap?”
• “Draft this week’s posts for my product, and leave them in review.”

The answers come from your records, with the source behind each figure, so you can check the number instead of trusting it. Drafts land in the portal’s review queue rather than going out.

Step 4 · What’s next

Install the portal on your phone when it offers — approvals and the event feed are better there than in a chat window. Then invite the people who need it and give each of them only the areas they should see.

If something does not connect

Ninety percent of failed connections are a signed-out session or an assistant that has not been restarted since you added the connector. Sign in again in the portal, restart the assistant, and re-run the ask. If it still refuses, the portal’s Connections screen shows exactly which check failed.
